Tom Ford Flattered by Jay-Z?s ?Tom Ford?

As you?ve probably heard, Jay-Z released his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail this week and it includes the much buzzed about new song ?Tom Ford,? in which the iconic designer?s name is mentioned multiple times, including in the line ?I don?t pop Molly, I rock Tom Ford? (as in Molly the drug).

People have mixed opinions about the album and the song (we were not that impressed with the way Ford was folded into the song), but who really cares about anyone?s opinion other than Tom Ford?s?

WWD went straight to the song?s namesake and he sounds pretty happy about it:

?Who would not be flattered to have an entire Jay-Z track named after them? I mean, come on, it?s pretty rare that something like that happens,? Ford told the trade. ?It?s a kind of validation of one?s work, as it means that one has really penetrated and made an impact on popular culture.?

Ford also loves being compared to a club drug: ?My favorite line is ?I don?t pop Molly, I rock Tom Ford.? I love that he gets a ?high? from my clothes.?

Ford also confirms that Jay is a frequent Tom Ford customer (as is Beyonc??remember when she was in his super secret fashion show?): ?I have been dressing him for years now, and I have to say I think he looks great in my clothes. [He] is one of our biggest customers. He let me know about this quite a while ago.?

So, there you have it. ?Tom Ford? is Tom Ford-approved.
