Men who reported getting the highest proportion of their daily calories from vegetable fat were nearly a third less likely to die during the study ? plus they lowered their risk of developing more lethal forms of cancer.

And here?s the best part ? these men weren?t exactly chugging olive oil by the gallon. Just swapping 10% of their daily calories from carbohydrates to vegetable fats boosted their chances of beating cancer.

Of course, not all the men in the study were so lucky. Men who replaced 5% of their daily calories with saturated fat ? or just 1% with trans fat ? increased their risk of dying by up to 30%!

Cancer is probably the most frightening word in the English language, but it doesn?t have to be a death sentence. In fact, many men who develop prostate cancer never die from it.
