Facebook, Google+, Twitter and YouTube.
Whether or not you are famil?iar with the internet, you have most likely heard of some, if not all of these social media sites.
Over the past several years, there have been many different sites, but with millions of us?ers around the globe, Facebook is arguably right now the most popular. Up until recently, social media sites, including Facebook, have been predominantly used as a place for people to connect or reconnect with friends and family, play games and meet new people. However, more and more businesses, both large and small, are popping up on Facebook and other sites to maximize their on?line presence.
Websites alone just don?t cut it anymore.
On Wednesday, May 23 Neil Linscheid of the University of Minnesota Extension presented a class at the Hendricks Fire Hall on how to use social media for business to several people from the community wishing to learn how to maximize their online presence for their business or organization.
Linscheid told the group that having a web presence is impor?tant for their business or organi?zation and explained how web?sites and social media differ. Linscheid went on to show the group how to create their own page on Facebook and also spoke about advertising on Face?book and how an ad can be tailored for a specific area, age and gender group and other details on advertis?ing.
Lincsheid also briefly talked about Twitter and Google+, which are other social media venues, and informed the group that the internet search engine Google gives preference to Google + pages when a per?son is searching a topic.
Finally, Linscheid men?tioned a couple of sites that can link all of one?s social media accounts.
